I earned 16K in independent consulting fees for work performed during January 2009. I did not receive the fee until beginning of March 2009. Since no withholding taxes were deducted, I believe that I owe the IRS taxes but I don’t know what forms are necessary. My friend told me to just send the IRS a check for 35% but this doesn’t seem right to me. Can anyone help please??? Thanks.
