There are many citizens who regularly pay their taxes on time and in the amount owed. Meanwhile, other people who don’t pay their taxes and rack up huge tax debts are able to settle with the IRS for an amount that is less than what was originally owed.
Why don’t more people protest this practice of the IRS allowing settlements for the nonpayers while the honest ones pay their fair share?

Check first with the IRS to make sure they actually sent you the letter! It is easy enough for anyone to send a letter CLAIMING to be from the IRS.
